MSI laptop with REAL cherry mechanical keyboard

Nagby

called the GT80 Titan

18,4"

4,5kg

49,1mm thick

what do you think of that layout?

edit : sorry, forgot to talk about the part at right of the kb

it's a normal touchpad but it can be switched to display a numpad

not a tactile screen, those aren't pixels, but premade shapes to follow a numpad

edit 2 : switches are cherry MX brown ; possibly customizable

no mousepad?

It looks like the number pad doubles as a mouse pad, like the razer blade pro I think it is

Where's the mouse pad? And why are all the keys to close to the front edge? Just looking at it is giving me carpal tunnel.

no wrist wrest....will make typing difficult

EDIT: actually you wouldnt need one I guess since the keyboard is low down you can use the table as a wrist rest,,, I wasnt thinking, however when using the laptop on your lap it will be horrible to type on

I quite like it, though Its bloody ugly, I would use my mouse on the top part as a mouse pad,

my personal tought on it aren't very releavent since i never tryed mech kb

but i'm a bit afraid that having a kb that close and a screen that far could be a bit uncomfortable, over the fact that there is no palm rest (like Shadow Captain said)

and the space above could have been used for an even more different look, like a custom plate that you can put there, or even a window to see hardware through

some people also talked about a 2nd screen there, but could be tricky to make it still openeable to acces hardware + need a screen with good vision angles

YES I love it! This is what I wanted... well... minus the 10 keys. Didn't know that was a touchpad, now I'm all for it.

Awesome. This probably won't be mainstream anytime soon, but it's good to see MSI experimenting with the concept at least.

What is that big open space for?

The laptop internals, graphics cards cooling, hard drives etc.. since the keyboard is taking up so much space in the laptop, normally those components go underneath the tihn keyboard but the cherry board is so thick they are in the other part of the base

YES I love it! This is what I wanted... well... minus the 10 keys.

I think it will suck without the wrist rest, imagine using this on your lap? or on the go without a good surface, will also be really loud and annoying when travelling or working in quiet spaces :P

I am torn between thinking its fucking amazingly cool and badass, and also a little stupid and pointless, the steelseries laptop keyboards MSI currently use are REALLY nice to type on (I also love the alienware keyboards, really nice typing experiance)

Imagine walking around with a 4.5kg laptop.

I feel this is completely pointless, and strangely it reminds me off one of these beast looking laptops.

Lol this is cool but it's waaay to thick for me, i'd rather buy a thin Stealth series and just use a tenkeyless w/ it.

4.5 kg isn't that bad, it's about the weight of the Asus G750 that they used for a while on the WAN show.
