Dell U2515H - a 25" 1440p monitor?

snowComet

A user @HardForum called Lava Lamp Freak found a new Dell display on the Energy Star Certification website. It is called U2515H.

As the model name implied, it is a 25" display. But what's interesting is according to the certification website, it is a 25" 2560x1440 display, and the panel technology is labelled as "TN LCD".

If the information on the website is true, this would be the first Dell UltraSharp series display to have a TN panel. (Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this.) Since Dell's UltraSharp series display is famous for color accuracy and consistency, I believe this monitor will be factory calibrated as well, just like the other UltraSharp series displays. But still TN panel for a UltraSharp series monitor? (Maybe the information on the Energy Star website is wrong?)

Specification posted on Energy Star Certification Website

Display Type info.png: Monitor

Screen Size (in.) info.png: 25.0

Maximum Resolution (pixels) info.png: 1440 x 2560

Backlight Technology info.png: LED Panel Technology info.png: TN LCD

Power Consumed in Sleep Mode (Watts) info.png: 0.47

Interestingly Lava Lamp Freak did a little research, and claimed the panel is actually a AH-IPS panel from LG called LM250WQ. (which I believe makes more sense.) He also claimed the monitor will feature a thin bezel design, like the U2414H and U2415. According to his post on HardForum, this monitor will be release in late 2014.

*update: I searched through the Energy Star Certification Website, and it seems they did wrongly labelled some AH-IPS monitors as having TN panels, like the U3014 and U2414H, so I believe they may have mislabeled the U2515H as having a TN panel as well.

I would of thought that 1440p is better with 27 inch monitors?

I don't see why a smaller monitor can't be 1440p

If this is true then I wouldn't mind getting one. I don't like large monitors but this is only 2" bigger than what I currently use and has a higher pixel density and resolution. I would love one!

Just because it's common does not mean it's better.

It can be, you would see a difference, but would it be astounding, and worth the money over 1080p? In the size we are talking about.

Hopefully they give Korean monitors a run for their money.

Awesome, more 1440p (but hopefully soon 1600p) monitors under 27" is always better. 25" might even be ideal for 16:9, as 24" 16:9 feels jarring for me coming from 24" 16:10.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

The benq is still the one I am more interested in because it is the same form factor as my current displays but with more pixels.

Desktop -  i5 4670k, GTX 770, Maximums VI Hero, 2X Kingston Hyper X 3k in raid zero.

Laptop - Lenovo X230 Intel 535 480GB, 16GB Gskill memory, Classic Keyboard Mod, Triple USB 3.0 Express Card.

I really want a 3+1 setup, so I'm waiting for a really good set of monitors to pop-up so I can snag three of them and use my primary display as my +1.

Three 1920x1080, three 2560x1440, or three 4k monitors would all be amazing, if they can get this around $300-$400, then I wouldn't mind picking up three of them, especially if it's that thin bezel.

Sorry guys, but Dell has some pretty sweet panels and aesthetic designs.

So what's so special about it?

Low lag and higher pixel density?

I'm not insulting anyone; I'm just being condescending. There is a difference, you see...

I agree. I would love to see dell make an IPS 27-28" 4K display with a thin bezel. I would drool all over that display.

Oh God now that would be something to see. Personally I would want a 23-25" monitor if I'm doing a 3+1 setup, since I don't really have that much desk space, but a IPS 27" 4k monitor would be beyond tempting, especially if prices come around to $500-$600.

Read carefully, there's reason to believe that's just an error and it is AH-IPS...

EDIT:  Previously posted in snowComet's thread @ http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/255070-image-and-user-guide-of-dell-u2515h-appeared/

It is indeed an IPS panel.  The owner's manual is up on the Dell site.

Definitely picking up 3 of these for surround.

I have a Surface Pro 3, it has a 2K screen (1440p). It looks great, mainly because the pixel density and the 13' size.

Posts from main rig, and sometimes from Surface Pro 3 (i5 128GB 4GB RAM)

I would have preferred 24", we need this to become standard.

I'm looking at getting the BenQ BL2420PT but I would rather TN with a higher refresh rate.
