Cleaning rig for the first time

GarnetDevil

Sooooo my rig has collecting dust for a few months and now I want to do some cleaning works, I'll clean both exterior and interior (including filters and fans and GPU fan), but I got some question

1. What kind of cloth should I use to clean?

2. As long as I shut the PSU down, I can clean the components with wet cloth with no issue right?

3. My GPU doesn't have a backplate and I want to clean it, are there issues with touching a GPU w/o backplate?

4. Do I have to unplug all cable even with PSU down? Because if I have to it's gonna be a pain in the ass to replug them

Appreciate all answers here, thanks :)

By touching the case you can be staticly uncharged right?

1. compressed air

2. no water nope nope, well you can but it will need to be 100% dry and as the water evaporates it leaves residue then can degrade the circuits. I wouldn't

3. power off none at all just dont bend anything

4. master switch on back of PSU and then remove the kettle lead

None of this is needed. Just unplug it, bring it outside, and use compressed air to blow out as much dust as you can. It doesn't have to be perfectly clean.

Compressed Air and done. For the GPU backplate and the PSU I use a microfiber cloth.

Thanks guys, but compressed air is not available where I live, so I am going to use a new, clean paint brush instead, it's gonna take times but will it work?
