What's my best options for storage? ( no expense spared solutions within reason)

I'm planning my new x99 build and have my shopping carts filled and am ready hit send but need some help in terms of storage. So this build is gonna be upwards of 5k and I want speed and capacity. My cart has a 1TB Samsung Evo ssd, and a 4tb red. I also like the idea of raid 0 with two smaller capacity ssds.

What are some other good options at around $1000 bucks for storage?

I currently have about 2TB in personal data that needs storage and would like real fast boot times. I would prefer if the personal data was safe put in a raid 1 or something.

i would use the 1tb ssd as the boot drive and program installation etc,

and the put some 2-3 TB drives in raid for storage

maybe get a NAS as well so its on 2 places at once on two systems running raid.

Two smaller SSD's in RAID won't feel any faster unless you're doing things like recording or streaming while gaming.

Day to day use, it's rather pointless. You'll get similar performance from the larger drive.

850 Pro is reliable and fast but expensive

Is the 850 pro worth $150 more dollars though? It seems the main differences are that it has a longer warranty and is slightly faster. I dont know if i would notice the speed increase.

For me yes because it is MUCH MUCH more reliable than the EVO and pretty much most if not all drives on the market

Ok maybe a stupid question but what do you mean in terms of reliable? Like what happens with the EVO and other ssds when they malfunction?

It's not a stupid question. The EVO is less reliable in terms of how many times you can write to it before it dies. And the EVO uses TLC flash which again is not very robust, and the 850 Pro uses 3D stacked MLC which the 3d part is really reliable and great.

I'm getting one for my boot drive and some games since it won't die

Also the EVO is old, But if you don't want to get a 850 pro you can get a MX100, I have one in my laptop and it's really good. It's more reliable than the EVO and just about the same speed.

But if you get the MX100 beware that the write performance get's worse as you go for a lower capacity model, same with the evo, but on the 850 there is hardly any difference between 256GB and 512GB's, But the 128GB MX100 has horrible performance and I would get higher capacities
