MuffinsOfGump

Hey everyone, I've been looking at a lot of things to do to my Moto G Android phone, and I was wondering, should I download CyanogenMod? And if I am going to, how do I install it? Thanks everyone :)

Should you? Only if you want to. If not, no reason to.

If you don't get Android L, then maybe.  But cyanogenmod is really just a more customizable version of almost stock android.  If you don't want a rooted phone or any advanced options the moto g software is fine.

Heck yes. It adds a lot of things to Stock Android that make it a lot more fun and less boring to use. Including themes (AOSP looks boring af) and little things that you wish you could have in stock android like customizable quick settings tiles and battery percentage (stock Android L still doesn't have this!!! Come on Google!).

My favorite part is that it comes with this epic ringtone pre-set

To install it on a Moto G is likely a simple process similar to Nexus devices, so I would just use the Cyanogenmod Installer

What are gonna be the differences between Android L and CyanogenMod when it's released?

What are your favorite parts about CyanogenMod and why would you recommend it?

Aside from that ringtone, customization is the biggest thing. I love AOSP ("stock Android") for how fast and lightweight it is, but what Google gives you out of the box on Nexus and Moto E/G/X devices is just plain boring. It's plain gray and there's next to no customization. You can't even show battery percentage on the status bar without using an app. Cyanogenmod adds just the right amount of customization to AOSP without making it too overwhelming.

Regular OTA Android L will be Google's release. Very similar customization options as KitKat.... soooo likely still no battery percentage.
