Raid 1 causing BSOD (Windows 8.1)

So I recently opted to try out raid using my two WD green drives, so I proceeded to follow the steps in my mobos manual. It told me to change the sata mode to Raid and then reboot whilst rebooting press Ctrl + I and then set up the raid which is what I did (Name: Raid 1, Type: Raid 1, Striping(Can't remember exact name): GREYED OUT). After this my computer keeps on BSOD without even entering the windows homescreen, so I had to disable raid and delete hte raid volume in order to get into the os. After goggling I found out that in order to enable raid without re installing the OS I need to change some registry values however I cannot find the ones for windows 8.1. I was looking at this thread: http://www.overclock.net/t/1227636/how-to-change-sata-modes-after-windows-installation however there is no option for windows 8 to go from ACHI to Raid. Any assistance is appreciated.

I was finally able to get it to work. I found out that booting in safe mode and then setting up the raid seemed to fix it dunno why but it worked.
