DSR or downsampling

Hello guys, i was wondering could someone shed some light on this issue.

Im primarily interested which one of these two give a better image quality.

I have used both very recently both trying to run at 3840x2160, and the only thing i could notice as different is that somehow DSR is more demanding the downsampling,

when in fact they should be the same thing if you just add custom resolution in Nvidia control panel?

Thank you for answering!

I use downsampling even after trying DSR.

The mouse pointer is too big in DSR, and also it does seem to be more demanding

Could you provide some sort of video proof? I'd be interested to see.

Ah well that would require me to have some kind of capture software, and since this is downscaling i dont know how you would get the 4k picture when its rendered by the GPU and not by the monitor.

If you could tell me how i might try to give you the picture. And im using an asus gtx 660ti top.

And as far as the performance goes i tried it on portal 2 since i could max it out with downsampling,

when i switched to DSR at certain point the fps would plummet from 60 to 30 and just stay there until i move somewhere else.

And dont worry about me trying out different areas of the game, i went through several same test chambers, so its more or less consistant.

And id make a like for the 30fps for that "cinematic" feel although i can say i can play at that frame rate, if its constant
