Can I dual Monitor with a Display Port to HDMI with a r9 290?

Tahab_1

So Basically, I want to use my other monitor which matches my current monitor which only has the VGA and HDMI port. I hate VGA, as I'm sure everyone else does here. So I was wondering if I could use my display port on my GPU and do Display port to HDMI and then have a second monitor?

Here's what I was thinking: http://www.amazon.co.uk/DisplayPort-HDMI-Converter-Adapter-Male/dp/B0027HYK7S

Also the school computers do some sort of Display Port To HDMI.

Don't see why it would't. I'm going to buy a Displayport -> DVI adapter and I'm confident in it

vga allows for higher refresh rates and resolutions than hdmi does though.. I understand why people hate it, yet from a technical stand, it is still better than hdmi.

Then HDMI 1.x. Now there's HDMI 2.0 and it's ahead of VGA

Does your 290 not have an HDMI port?

I am using it... It only has one HDMI port, and the budget isn't there for a display port monitor...

Oh okay. I'd rather go with a DVI to HDMI adapter to avoid the complications of active vs passive DP adapters. However I myself have a passive DP to HDMI adapter and it works perfectly fine, so the choice is up to you. The picture quality will be identical.

Ah, I see... At the end of the day it's up to price... whatever is cheaper I'll go for...
