The Crew

CaptainKoda

Have you guys herd of The Crew?

The website is: http://thecrew-game.ubi.com/portal/en-US/home/

Its a game where everyone is in one sever and the map is the hole USA. You can drive anywhere in it! It takes 90 minutes to drive from the east to west coast! I personally cant wait for this game! But the only downside is it is locked at 30 fps which I think may be for one reason... I think it is because since everyone is in one sever and so its going to be under heavy use, they did it to reduce lag spikes or the game crashing. What do you think about this game?

Also one last question do you have the beta for pc or ps4/xbox?

I played the beta version, here's what I think of it:

1. Gameplay looks very promising

2. Graphic is like late 2011 ~ 2012 games

3. Always online - this is what I hate most

4. Uplay - this HURTS my ass

Yeah I had the PC beta too.
I know it was a beta, But I'm glad they delayed it. It still needs a lot of work.
I feel like I spent more time filing bugs then I got to play.

1. Agreed

2. Well it is an MMO, so I would say graphics wise it is like an RPG (witcher 2) vs MMORPG( Guild wars 2). MMOs generally does not have that much eyecandy

3. it is an MMO, I am fine with it, but it is objective

4.That is the main reason why I do not play Far Cry 3, as I got it on uPlay. I do not see why would someone start a client for his own game for a few games

The fact that it is always online makes it a problem

While I played the beta, the server disconnect a lot, and it took like forever just to get to the game

I played the beta and I loooved it. Finally a game where you don't feel like you've driven on every single street after a few hours of gameplay.

The always online thing is also one that I'm not too confident about, maybe it's just my crappy router and my 1 MB/s internet speed. Played fine through the beta, but lost connection during a fairly hard single player race and i got kicked out of the game entirely. Uplay is something Ubisoft is trying to push and I'm not too bothered by it, only when they link you to it when you buy games on steam, which is just ridiculous. The map is absolutely fantastic, it really feels like a trip to go from one town to the other.

I love what Ubisoft is doing here, but when I check a game on Steam and see it has DRM, I will usually not buy it. Like the only DRM'ed game I bought was GTA IV. I hated that I had to MAKE THE GAME WORK MYSELF in order to play.

Besides, the "always online" thing might be meh. I don't have a THAT horrible connection (10Mbit down/1Mbit up last time I checked), but my router overheats once in a while (No money to replace that old PoS sorry!).

But a huge open world designed after a real life location seems so tempting. I don't care about the graphics being dated (provided it doesn't look like something from 2003).
