Bluescreen while gaming

rGhost

In some games like GTA IV, BioShock, Splinter Cell Conviction, Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 I get bluescreen after some time. My specs are the following. G3258 @ 4.5GHz, ASUS Z97-K, Sapphire R9 270 Dual-x OC 2GB (overclocked at 1050 MHz with MSI Afterburner), HyperX Blue 4GB DDR3 1600MHz, Seasonic S12II-430W Bronze, WD 1TB Caviar Blue. Now, I have the latest BIOS and GPU drivers, at first I thought it was the CPU but right now it's running with 1.375 v and I ran a lot of stress tests and there were no problems but in gaming, as I said, I get bluescreen. Can the GPU be the problem ?? How can I find where's the problem ?

it might be the psu having to put out more than its capable of, but im not sure. someone else can probably tell you.

Try a torcher test to see if it is, it also could be an unstable overclock

What are you temps under load, especially high gpu vrm temps can cause trouble during long gaming sessions.

My gpu hits 69 C during a Heaven benchmark. The CPU is close to 90 in IBT and Prime95. About the PSU, how can I find if it's too weak ??

Guys I'm back and I think that what happens to me is not a CPU problem but a GPU one. I was playing The Witcher and after something like 35 minutes the game froze and then the screen turned brown with some vertical lines in it. In other, more demanding games like Ghost Warrior 2 the screen turns blue and has some white lines in it (that's not bluescreen, right?). So, is the problem from my GPU ? If yes, what is it and what's to do ? If anything my GPU is still under warranty ( I only had it for 2 months). How can I check if the problem really is the GPU ?

To me, it sounds more like an unstable OC than anything else. Undo the overclock on the GPU and see if it still happens. If you still have those visual problems then you may need to RMA the card.

Dis.

Overclock a bit less maybe. I'd recommend you turn your OC settings off until you can diagnose the problem.

Guys, for a while I thought that the OC on the GPU was the problem but in fairness it wasn't. I mean, it looks like it helped in like Sniper Warrior 2 in which I haven't got any crash or bluescreen or freeze or... I don't know how to call it but 20 minutes ago it happened again in GTA IV (at a specific time on a specific mission, this is the place when this problem always appears). The screen turn's blue with some white lines and there's a strange noise and after a few seconds the pc restarts. I've updated to the latest beta driver from AMD... what should I do ?

And again, my pc froze in AC IV Black Flag 5 minutes ago and the screen turned completely red and after a few seconds it restarted.

If it keeps happening at one point. That might be a game problem i.m.o.. However if it appears in almost every game, that's weird. What does the bluescreen say? Normally I get a error message with a dump report. Try diagnosting the error message.

Furthermore this might be Harddisk problem. I'm guessing you have all games on 1 harddrive. Try installing one on another drive and see if the problem occurs, then you at least know it's not your harddrive (hardware of software).

I'm no techy but those are my 2 cents

download bluescreenview and find out what exactly is causing the bluescreen. My guess is unstable cpu overclock, but bluescreenview will tell you.

If it keeps happening it might be that the GPU is artifacting and slowly taking a scroll to the graveyard.

This is what I get in Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 and GTA IV : http://s30.postimg.org/hcaaht25d/IMG752.jpg

And this is what I've got in AC Black Flag : http://s27.postimg.org/5g8fps783/IMG751.jpg

Also, in The Witcher I've got a brown screen with some white vertical lines. Are those artifacts ?? As you can see there isn't that bluescreen with some writing on it.
