Why is my Evga superclocked Gtx980 reading 3505mhz for the memory clock?

Cainn
Go to solution Solved by Hirad123,

The DDR in memory name stand for double data rate, what do you get when you multiply 3505 by 2?

Is this normal? Everywhere i read stock memory clock is 7000mhz. Am I missing something? Confused? A little help please

Thanks Hirad123. That would answer my question. I'm coming from a Gtx 295 and new to boost speeds etc. I thought perhaps I was missing something else.

Thanks again

I believe that some of the GPU OC'ing tools read the memory clock as only being half of it's effective clockspeed (which is also double the actual clockspeed).. GPU-Z will show you it's actual clockspeed (which should be 1752.5 Mhz). I don't know exactly why the show it like that, but MSI Afterburner says the exact same thing for me.

2 x 3505 Mhz = 7010 Mhz. (also 4 x 1752.5 Mhz = 7010 Mhz). Your GPU is running at the correct speed.

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

Thanks Slave. I didn't realize it did that. I guess with my overclock i'm at 8100mhz.

Thanks guys. I knew it was to do with the memory, but sometimes you might know something but forget exactly what is that you know. I know that sounds confusing, but I can't think of any other way to explain it. I hope you get what I'm trying to say anyway. :)

I think he's following his thread, so quoting doesn't matter so much when you follow your own thread. ;)

? That has nothing to do with me seeing that he responded. If he doesn't quote my post and I'm not following his topic, then I don't see that he responded.
