What video editing software should i get?

So I have been playing around with shadowplay and have some cool clips I would like to trim and maybe do some simple editing, but I dont know what programs to use. I have been wanting to learn more about video editing and though this might be a good reason to start. So what programs would you guys suggest? free is good :P or ones that students can get at a great price.

Sony Vegas, Windows Movie Maker (free, simple), VideoPad (Free), Adobe Premiere (It's Adobe)

Adobe Creative Cloud has a 65% discount for students, but it's still not cheap. If you just want to do simple editing, Movie Maker will be just fine. Otherwhise Sony Vegas Pro is a good choice too.

I once had one of these, now I've got this.

You can get a lower version of Sony Vegas that is about $50. It is called Movie Studio Platinum and it does't have all of the Vegas Pro features but you would not really use them anyways. IMO Sony video editors are great for getting into the editing area. http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/moviestudiope

Adobe Premiere. I have personally never used it, i use sony vegas. it does everything i need it to, great program but premiere is an industry standard(that and final cut) so if ur looking to do "proffessional" stuff like working for a real studio get final cut or adobe.\

by the way. fuck the bull shit just utilize a torrent with a u in front of it **wink wink

Adobe Premiere Elements is a great deal cheaper than Adobe CC and doesn't require you to pay monthly/yearly. It's basically a cut down version of Premiere Pro, but still has plenty of professional features. Sony has a similar product called Sony Movie Studio, which a cheaper cut down version of Sony Vegas. These are great options and you can get Adobe Premiere Elements and Photoshop Elements together reasonably cheaply:

Take a look at Lightworks. There is a free version which is pretty powerful, but it has some limitations:

There are other cheaper options like Cyberlink Power Director, but these tend not to perform as well as Premiere Elements.
