What monitor should I get for 120Hz or more?

AnonymousUser52

I am getting a GTX 970 and I want to utilize its speed. I need a monitor that is not wallet-breaking expensive, but it needs to be at least 1080p, and at least 120Hz. I do not have a particular budget in mind, it just needs to be relatively good features and preformance for the price. Thank you all for any suggestions given!

What is your budget? If there is none then I would obviously say to go for the ROG Swift which is like $800. If you really need at least 120 hz then you don't have much of a choice between those korean 1440p monitors, which I still think are sketchy as hell, or a 1080p monitor like from Benq or Asus.

The Asus VG248QE is on sale for $20 off currently. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236313&cm_re=asus_144_hz_monitor-_-24-236-313-_-Product

Most monitors that are 120 hz+ are made using a TN panel since they need to be fast unlike a lot of their ips counter parts. This is an exception to the Korean IPS monitors which can apprently be overclocked to 120 hz sometimes. The reason that I say they are so sketchy is because if big companies like Benq and Asus haven't even released an IPS monitor that goes above 60 hz, what makes these korean ones special? There has to be a drawback somewhere.

The problem is the response times aren't capable of displaying 120hz correctly without some epic ghosting going on.
