most poweful graphics card in the 90s?

i was just wondering what was the most powerful graphics card between 1990-2000 since this was when the gaming PC was born due to the release of Windows 95

I do not know but i can remember one thing..  Tseng Labs ET4000 that card was so popular back then(lel i wasnt even born yet. but my dad enthuse it)

ahhh the good old days, back when games were COMPLETE, didn't need to spend in order to get DLC's, games were fun, no one complained about graphics, and no console vs pc arguments and everyone got along.

 

I don't know much about graphics cards from those days as I was only 3 when windows 95 came out, but I always here VooDoo cards were good.

PC gaming was born a long time before Windows 95. During Windows 95 and 98 I ran a Creative 3D Blaster Banshee (Running a VooDoo Banshee chipset and 16MB of RAM) though, which really lasted me a long time. There were no ultra settings back then, the most prominent setting you could change in a game was whether or not you were running a DirectX compatible card.

The 3dfx Voodoo3 and Nvidia Riva TNT2 were the most powerful GPUs in the 90's. I never owned the Voodoo3, but I did have the original Voodoo, Voodoo2 and the Riva TNT2. The original Voodoo is still my all-time favorite graphics card, it just offered such a huge leap forward in performance and image quality. The only thing that in my opinion comes close to it is the Radeon 9700 Pro which I also owned for a while.

I remember games back then we're a most all able to be modded with little or no effort from pc noobs like i was I don't remember how many wolfstein 3d and doom mods I had just remember enjoying the kill barney and kill the smurfs mods

Would have been between the TNT2 and Voodoo 3.

I didn't know much pre Geforce 256, the first thing I remember is that Nvidia came up with hardware TnL, the only other company that also adopted it was ATi, and it was so powerful that all the competition just died.

I think Savage made a TnL card too, but it was pathetically slow, and 3Dfx dug their grave with the outdated voodoo architecture.
