Don't think mining is profitable anymore :S

Is it comparable to mining with a laptop?

Because he had a hard drive.

I think the best currency for your GTX 690, is to find an iron ore vein in Skyrim, mine it and then transmute it into gold ore.

Late answer here, but after the mining rush, you're going to need some very serious hardware becasue every time you mine it becomes a ittle bit harder to get the next one. Also mining will ruin your card, so I woudn't recommend it if you actually want to use it for something else.

Just find out the average hash for your GPU and input the KH/s, MH/s or GH/s, depending on the algorithm.
Though it should be noted, that if you do pay for electricity, than it's unwise to mine because you will lose money in the process (thinking from a purely profit standpoint). And also that Nvidia GPUs aren't very good at mining even with specific miners.
But just so you know, almost every member on this forum views mining as a complete waste of hardware, time and money, but don't realise that it helps contribute to the security of a Cryptocurrency because you're helping out in the blockchain, so if you are just purely in it to make a coin more secure and reliable to use, than it's a great idea even with electricity costs in mind (most of the time).

But you probably don't think of mining as that, so from a profit standpoint, with electricity costs eliminated, than you will obviously make a profit, but choose a promising coin that won't die off as a quick as fly is what you need to learn.
Just be sure to pick a coin that hasn't been pre-mined and that starts off with a difficulty of 0.

Also stay away from SHA-256 and Scrypt, ASICs have already been released for these algorithms and mining with just a single GPU will amount to nothing compared to others with ASIC farms.
