Good uses (or excuses) for bad tech

JT8101997

What are some good uses or excuses you have for using bad/old tech? Besides it being cheap of course. I'm looking for creative answers :P

At my high school we all use chrome books, and I actually love the crappy glossy TN panel in it, just for the fact that I'm not gaming, editing, etc. so I dont need a high quality screen for typing papers and doing research (and poking around of the forum ;) ) Because of this though, I can turn the brightness way down and you cant see a thing on the screen looking from an angle. Only looking straight at it, cause otherwise the color is distorted and the lights reflect off the screen too much :P So I can mess around on this thing all day and nobody knows :D

Just a normal guy with a constant desire to modify everything he owns.

Running legacy stuff? I dunno. Ps/2 format keyboards can prevent nkey rollover but that's all i can think of

Same with Chromebook as that's all i need while i am mobile it has better battery than a gaming notebook and isnt bloated. Another excuse is the barnacles that the razer blade is for poor people

You can always think about what you can upgrade and look for cheap deals :D

I use a Chromebook for typing up things in class, battery life is pretty good and the screen can go really dim so it's not too bright when the lights are off (when the projector is in use).

I've also used an old SGS2 with IP Webcam to check if my stuff has printed at the printer.

I could have used my original xbox as a hammer or blunt weapon, gave it to my cousin's son instead because he'd somehow managed to destroy his.

Edit: Lol just realized I didn't tell her that I had a bunch of inappropriate music on it, at least for a 7 year old

For old tech, I use a set of Logitech Z-5500 speakers because they still rock for games.

I also have a pretty wicked record player set up with quite an extensive record collection with new and older music... Still love the sound of them.

I'm also currently using an old MX518 logitech mouse that is peeling pretty bad because I'm waiting for my warranty replacement to come in for my G700...

Oh, I also use an old IBM Thinkpad T43 in the garage and for data logging...

Still using my iPad 2 because I got it for free through school, and it's still a solid tablet.

Using my iPhone 4S because I have no money :(

Using a 2006 MacBook because I got it from an uncle + no money.

Lets see...

1. Not enough money to replace it with better tech or have other priorities (Such as my shitty dell stock keyboard or dell speakers).

2. Happy with what it offers. (6+ year old samsung 1tb hdd)

I try to keep my technology up-to-date, but that becomes difficult with the low amount of money I have... (Yes I have a job, I just don't work often)

I use a Droid 4 because I still like physical keyboards more than software ones(this is also the reason why I just purchased a Blackberry Q5).

I still use a Sound Blaster Live! CT4830 in my Linux machine, since the sound is nice and "warm" and it still can filter power better than the SB Recon Fatal1ty and SB Z.

Even though I plan on replacing it soon, my personal pc uses a eMachine case from 2004. Its not only old, but it sucks, however I still use it because at one point I thought it was a good idea(and don't have a better case to replace it).

Lastly, I use a Samsung Hotspot Pro on T-Mobile. I'm not sure if they all suck, but mine does. The battery is garbage, it drops connections(both WIFi and cellular), and has been a PITA since day 1.

Vinyl record player for me. The sound is amazing, especially when you are used to hearing low quality mp3s. Plus, I miss collecting music instead of just adding songs to my Spotify account.

I use an old second hand mouse that cost me kebab meal from a friend of mine because it's a good shape and still works just fine.

Because it either works just fine... or because I don't have the money to upgrade
