Downloading Overnight can harm your pc?

so today i got my first new gaming pc, i want to download games overnight so in the morning i can play it already BUT i am afraid if it migth harm my pc, like Overheat? should i be worried in leaving my pc for overnight? and what are the bad effects in using the computer everyday like 8-10 hours a day and bad effect of leaving your computer at night.

because some people said that it can harm your HHD and SSD, it can make a lower life span, and the motherboard will be damage because of the heat.

and also it will increase your electric bill, lol

hope anyone can give me an advice.

Thanks. :)

I leave my on all night all the time, what other time is convenient to cane your internet.

Well it will use power > more electricity used > higher bill. But this would be a very small increase.

As long as your temperatures are fine there will be no risk of damage.

You will be perfectly fine; your computer will use barely any power and it won't affect the lifespan of your components.

Nooooo, you're fine. I've had a computer running for a straight two years, nothing happened to it.

Mine's been going straight for 4 years (I don't shut down my PC overnight, I just leave it running 24/7) and it's perfectly fine

Why?

I have a home server that only goes down for maintenance. It's been running for over 2 years. I take it down once a month for maintenance.

The computer in my office stays on 24/7 just because I don't need to shut it off and I like having things like nightly backups happening. I don't always leave it on but it usually runs for 3 to 4 days with out being turned off.

If your computer overheats overnight then it's going to melt when you try to game on it. They use very little power when they are just sitting and doing nothing. Hell when coin mining was profitable I hade a computer running with 2 7870's at 100% load 24/7. Both those cards still work more than a year later.

I run 2 local servers 24/7, and my PC is very often left on for a few days on end (download overnight/through college day).

No issues yet.

If anything disconnect unnecessary HDDs just so they don't spend time spinning up :)

Just leave it on. It boots faster when you don't turn off your computer.

As long as everything is properly set up (and kitty doesn't go to sleep on the intake filter), you'll be fine - if it runs at acceptable temperatures when you're looking at it, it is highly unlikely to misbehave when you're not :)

Why have you left it on for 2 years?

Some people (including me) keep their PC on 24/7, only turning them off if we need to

I turn mine off monthly

I only turn mine off when something needs to be done, like part upgrade/swap or cleaning

Heat in a computer doesn't work like that. Your components sit at their idle temperatures whenever you're not doing anything, and only ramp up significantly with a large, sustained workload. Downloading something overnight demands so little of your hardware that its basically sitting in its idle state.

Hard drives and SSDs are designed to be used. Provided there is nothing physically wrong with them (and that's why we have warranties), they should for last years in a typical usage scenario, be it during the night or otherwise. I've actually only had one hard drive that truly failed in all my years of computer use.

It won't physically harm your PC but if you downloading from steam you should be fine. Other non official places you should be a little more careful.
