Why are Z87 boards still more expensive then Z97 boards?

I went part shopping with my dad today to pick up his G1 GTX 970 and wifi card, I went to look at the motherboards and saw that alot of the Z87 moards still cost more then the Z97.

 

shouldn't it be cheaper already?? and this isn't just one brand almost all the brands are the same except for Asrock

Pricing can be somewhat wrong for apparently no reason. That's how I see it

There are different boards with different features meaning it will have a higher or lower price, its like asking why the gtx 690 still costs about $1000 when the 980 only costs $450 or so and beats the 690.

I mean for example  gigabyte's gaming MX5 vs their sniper M5 the Z97 has more usb 3s and M.2 and sata express and also have the removable op amp like the sniper and it's like $80.00 cheaper then the sniper M5

He works for a company called Singtel one of our corntry's internet providers and he used to be a gamer like my mom, he does alot of software enginnering stuiff I still don't understand yet tho.

 

I was born into a family of PC freaks I kinda grew up watching my dad build PCs

His work/Gaming Pc on his office at his work place is totally water cooled and cost SGD$9000 around USD$4800(one of his more expensive X series builds)

erm because I got cray cray parents? my dad would rather spend mony on his PC then get a new car  (still drives a crappy 9 year old car)
