where did you hear that? It is an excellent compound. The ones you listed are less than a degree cooler.

Arctic MX-4. Too many horror stories about Silver 5 for me not to trust it.

How bout the stock NT-H1 it comes with? It's at the very least as good as MX-4.

It's some of the best stuff around the NT-H1. However the type of thermal comp you use

Only affects temps by a few degrees

CPU: i7 3770k@ 4.6Ghz@ 1.23v - GPU: Palit GTX 660ti - MOBO: Asrock Extreme 4 - RAM: Corsair vengeance 8GB 1600Mhz - PSU: OCZ 650watt - STORAGE: 128Gb corsair force GT SSD/ 1TB seagate barracuda 7200rpm

                                                                                         COOLING: NH-U14s/ 3x Noiseblocker blacksilent pros/ Silverstone Air Penetrator/ 2 corsair AF120s

Should be able to, it's fairly low profile. The D15 is intended to be used with high profile RAM, though in some cases the primary push fan can cause issues, but it works just as well when that fan is moved to the back of the cooler and used in pull.

The noctua brand thermal compound (NT-H1) is some of the best around. The difference in temps you would get from using either artic silver 5, mx-4 or NT-H1 would be negligible. Only a degree or so in difference.

yesterday's weirdness is tomorrow's reason why

"Despite its imposing size, the NH-D15 is still compatible with taller memory modules. The outer borders of the towers are shaped to accommodate big heat spreaders. Configurations with taller memory may be limited to a single fan nestled between the two towers, though."
