i5 4460, what mobo to go with?

JuztBe

1. So my 7year old PC is about to die, so I'm looking for new budget build.
Going with i5 4460 and r9 280. So i wonder what motherboard brand I should go for? H81 or B85 only , because anything above is a little bit too expensive :)
2. What actually H81, B85, Z97 counts as? Sockets?

its chipsets. h81/b85 no raid,h97 raid support,z97 overclock support(K cpu only) . with a locked cpu the performance is the same across all motherboards so it really doesn`t matter.look at what features you want

something with 4 ram slots for example. and it depends on your case. matx or atx

unless you're not going to overclock your CPU soon (CPU upgrade) on this motherboard, any H81 and B85 is just fine. the difference between motherboard is basically just a feature like how many sata port, PCI-e slot availabe, what ethernet chip they use, etc.

just find that fits on your wallet and don't forget to compare it with another simirally price motherboard. review from person who use that motherboard is pretty useful too.

be advised the i5-4460 is a refresh haswell CPU therefore if you go with a H81 or B85 motherboard you'll have to perform a BIos update on the motherboard BEFORE it supports the core i5-4460.

I'd suggest you look for an H97 motherboard, this is latest chipset.
