ATX,Matx and mITX

I can understand ATX's high prices and more pci-e  lanes but I really don't understnd why the MITX boards are more expensive then nything somes time even more expensive then a ATX versions

M-ITX

1X 3.0 X16 PCIE slot

16GB of dual Channel channel

less USB slots

so why is it so expensive?

Consumers have always had to pay more to have good or high performing technology in smaller packages, that's why.

If you had to build a house that could accommodate 500 guests and you'd ideally needed 100.000 square feet (random number) of space.

Wouldn't you want extra compensation if you put time and money into building sophisticated and innovative architecture which allowed you to accommodate those 500 guests while using 50.000 square feet instead?

The demand for smaller motherboards is lower so there are less mitx boards and less competition with pricing, etc.

MSI Z97i-AC and MSI Z97M-Gamingboth at the same prce and the Matx version has more usbs and can even SLI so is it really that much better on the ITX

It's harder to engineer the same component into something smaller.

Where I live the MSi Z97M-Gaming is $154, the MSi Z97i-AC Gaming is $188.

Which means it's even worse from a price-performance standpoint that you get less for more on with the mITX motherboard.

Supply and demand probably has a lot to do with too like WoodenMarker said.
