2000$ Gaming PC Build

chiKen

Hey guys,

I have decided that I want to build my own PC instead of buying. After a lot of research, I came up with this build: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/chicken01/saved/yHCZxr

What do you think of it? Please give me suggestions and a general idea of how this PC would perform. I have a 2000$ budget.

Thanks in advance,

Ken

You can save by not having a blu ray writer and just a dvd/cd writer.

Dominator platinums are a waste of money for anything but looks. Ram is ram and brand doesn't affect performance. There are many cheaper alternatives that will perform identically.

Is the bluray drive (or an optical drive in general) really necessary?

You chose an uber expensive PSU... Just get EVGA, and since it's 750W, you can add another 970 later :)

And do you really need a 80$ DVD/CD/Blu-Ray drive... O.o

change the os for one from G2A.com that will save him about $60 so more money towards another component of the pc instead of just the OS.

edit: does he really need a black rather than maybe a blue ? cause i know the black is for gaming but he's got an SSD to store his most powerful games on, the HDD is just for storing programming like Photoshop and word.

That's an option. It will allow him to get an extreme option like Swiftech H240x :P. Otherwise the Corsair H105/110 and Kraken X61 are pretty good but I prefer air coolers.

exactly plus the OS is nowhere near worth $80 xD $20 yes but not $80 aha. Yeah i mean switching out the NH-D15 for a h105 or a h100i or even the chance to but some noctua nf-f12's in his system.

Swap the I7 out for I5 if you plan to upgrade within 2-3 years. Otherwise an I7 is a worthy investment if you intend to not upgrade for 4-6 years or so

price efficent ?? hold on the Evos come with a 5 years warranty and are known for the best reliability :L can't get any better than that, price is just a number.

The 840 Evo has a 3 year warranty. Only the 840 Pro and 850 Pro have longer warranties (5 and 10 respectively).
