Mini Might (Smallest Editing/Gaming rig up to date)

Seeing Gigabyte's latest GPU the mini ITX GTX 970 has inspired me to think of the smallest build that can take on a full sized Editing/Gaming rig like my own, so if intrested please go ahead try to make the build.

 

Case: Lianli PC-TU100B

CPU: Intel i7 4790K

CPU Cooler: CoolerMaster Seidon 120XL Liquidcooling

Motherboard: ASUS Maximus-VII-Impact

Ram: Kingston Fury Black Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Storage: Kingston HyperX 3K 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM

GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 Mini ITX

PSU: Seasonic 550W G-550

 

Fans

Silverstone AP121 Air Penetrator 12cm Fan (for front push and pull with radiator)

Silverstone AP121 Air Penetrator 12cm Fan (Exhust)

 

Note: I tried out my friend's EK ASUS Maximus-VI-Impact custom water block it won't fit the VII

nor exactly a build log, I posted this build if someone is intrested in building a tiny ROG build  this is something I whipped up at my friend's work shop

 

seeing he was going to replace the mitx MSI  GTX 760 and his asus Z87I-pro

This is pretty easy  since I already had an ITX build with this card in mind. I need to fix the price of the case though. It is 140 pounds shipped to the US so the price is actually more like $220. The reason I opted for the Plus model is due to the m.2 being better integrated with the plus. It sits on the back side of the motherboard and can use eithe 2260 or 2280 cards. The Impact has some interference issues when trying to use the m.2.

You could also drop the NAS and associated drives. Then swap the cpu, ram, and mobo for an X99 mATX board, 5820k,and a 4x4 ram setup for about the same price. And throw in a 3TB drive as well.

With that particular case I listed you have to use a mini GPU. This is how small we are talking on that parvum case:
