How about that one?

Hey Guys,

As the title may suggest, I´m planning on building my first PC. I want to have a machine that will be capable of running the latest games, on a standard 1080p monitor, for around 1000€, or somewhat 1100 Dollars (As hardware seems to be cheaper in the US). I´m hoping to get some decent cyber moday/ black friday deals, and I live in austria, so no newegg I suppose  :( . Also I want that thing to be sort of like using a console (Setting Big Picture as my windows shell). Please do not try to convince me on buying an SSD, since i want to keep a really tight budget/performance PC.

So here´s the PCPP link, below are some questions, and please tell me if this is a good price/ performance rig.

http://de.pcpartpicker.com/p/yjfLbv

So here are some questions I have:

  1. Obviousely since i got a k series CPU and a GPU good for overclocking, I´ll overclock those. So the question is: will the power supply be optimal eg. not enaugh/ way overboard? Did i calculate everything right?
  2. I got pretty confused when shopping for a good Z97 Motherboard, with all those brands throwing around the word gaming, overclocking... It just annoyed me, so i went with a cheap one  with pretty ok reviews. Is this Mobo ok, what should i consider?
  3. Bit off topic, but should i wait for AMD´s pirate island? I really do want to have a working PC around christmas, but if the new 3XX series change the world? If so I would be pissed...
  4. Did i bottleneck anything? CPU...
  5. Is the cooler good enaugh for OC?
  6. Got any tips for overclocking?
  7. Just for fun, what were your best black friday deals?

//Just to remember I do really care about performance!

//If any of you are interested in what I´m currently using, it´s an HP Pavilion dv7 6101eg. Loud n´ slow.

I find  it awsome that there are people out there, taking their time, to help such a noob as I am. Feel free to tell me what i did wrong.

Thanks in regard,

Paul

1) Yups

2) Just get the cheapest board from a reputable manufacturer that has the features you'll need (2-way SLI support, M.2 support, etc.). That board is okay.

3) No reason to, we can only speculate and expect the worst but hope for the best.

4) Won't even go there. Short answer: technically yes, realistically no.

5) Depends how far you go, but yes.

6) Don't go too high on the voltage. Stress, stress, stress.

7) Who shops on Black Friday?

If you want the build to match, I can do something about that, I think, otherwise... it could still use a bit of work.

1. The PSU is enough, but if you ever consider going 2 ways SLI in the future it will not, so how about a 600-650W PSU instead?

2. That one is ok, usually I go with the G45 or Gaming 3/5 instead for the look, but the Z97 PC Mate is good too

3. Nope~ it wont cure cancer~ and certainly it wont change much given how even on the R9 290 and 290x they falling behind

4. Nope~

5. Mild lv OCing, yup, super high lv OCing, no.

6. Be patient, starting 0.1GHz at a time and stress test it. Also dont OC if you dont need to.

On a side note, at that budget, you better get a cheaper case and get a 120GB SSD instead

you say your really care about performance. I think you will see a huge difference with any of the setups above. To maximize performance significantly beyond that, you would need to losen your budget. One thing I mould suggest is a different case. Yes it is beautiful but it is also premium pricing. There are many other oprions sub 80 EUR that are good too. That way you could get an AiO water cooler for your CPU for example.
