Mini-ITX SOCKET 2011 / X99 Board

JonU

I know it's been talked about some here as well as on other forums about a mITX X99 board (i was doing a little googling). As much as I would love to see one I don't really expect for a lot of the reasons people gave. A lot of people like to cite an Interview by JJ @ Asus where he says to let them know you want it (my words; not his). I then ran across this post by Raja@Asus and it pretty much confirms what I thought. While it would be awesome it'll probably never happen.

The R&D versus sales is the big issue really. As vocal the minority that want one are, it doesn't translate into much volume for us worldwide. The R&D required to make a good mini-ITX board with a platform like this are considerable. What I am saying is, thanks for the feedback, but don't expect one.

While I'd love to see an ITX board, how many people would actually buy one?

Just an FYI, it's 2011-3, not 2011. :)

looking at the extremely high end mITX build in this forum a lot

my biggest problem is the socket size. 2011 seems.. massive even by numbers to 1150

Considering the massive heat output of any CPU on that socket, cooling would pretty much have to be water cooling. It's just not something I'd probably ever do.

by going itx you negate 99% of the advantages of X99

thats why no one makes it.
