Have you checked your speakers in another device or tried plugging headphones into a port?

Have you checked that you have the correct speaker device selected in Playback Devices?

go into your device manager and find the Realtek ALC662 (might be called something different) right-click it and uninstall the device. Perform a reboot and it should reinstall again after you log in. See if you get sound then.

 http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-3-5mm-Jack-Audio-Adapter/dp/B0058P0I2C

This might fix the issue if your 3.5 mm in of your motherboard is faulty.

If that doesn't work invest in a good usb dac, what it does is that it takes audio from your pc by usb and decodes inside it,basically a soundcard but infinitely better.

fiio e7,it is a dac mainly for headphones, but since you use a powered speakers 2.1 i guess it will have no problem.

I suggest you get the warranty. If you are looking for a soundcard don't buy the one you mentioned.Go for a soundcard with plenty of good reviews like xonar U7 or xonar dgx.For a gaming headset checkout Linus techtips video reviews.I use non gaming headphone ath m40x.
