Looking to upgrade graphics card

I'm looking to move into 1440p gaming. I currently have a 2gb reference Gtx 680. I've been looking at prices and I'd like some input on what to buy. I am considering adding a water loops at a later date too. 

Gtx 780 Poseidon it $329 right now, considering this because it already has a water block and an air cooler.

Msi 780 ti Gaming is $419!

Msi R9 290 is $265! 

The last option is going with a Gtx 970.

What do you guys think?

Sli/ crossfire is an option, but they would need to be cooler cards due my case being an mATX enclosure.

Any input is appreciated, Thanks!

970, or R9 290 if you're gonna water cool them or wait for AMD to release the R9 3xx series.

970 or r290x if u dnt have the money, they perform the same,
