Truthfully I would just buy a new cpu, the cost will outway the benefit of even building a pc because the cpu will bottle neck the system so bad, and I am not sure if you can even find a MOBO for that considering it is 8 years old.

Just get a G3258+Z97 mobo and OC to hell instead of using a C2D.

You can sometimes find a G3258+ Z97 combo for around 100USD.

I wouldn't suggest buying a new CPU. DDR2 is old, LGA775 is dead. Just buying a 1150 dual core would be a lot faster than that 8 year old core 2 duo with outdated instruction sets.

Main: i7 2600 | ASUS P8Z68-V | 2x4GB Vengeance 1600 | GTX 580 | WD Blue 1TB | Antec TP-650C | NH U12S | W7 x64

Backup: X6 1090T | MSI K9A2 Platinum | 4x2GB XMS2 800 | GTX 550Ti | WD Blue 1TB |  Antec VP-450 | CM TX3 | W7 x64

It's not worth spending so much on a $20 cpu, trust me. Just like Mildphil said it'll bottleneck the entire system.

My name is Sebastian, I relate to Linus

It's still great to use a C2D if you have it.....

He can get a q6600 on amazon for $33, but I still wouldn't suggest it because a $50 1150 cpu single threaded performance has nearly doubled.
