Change taskbar Icons

pancoon

Hey everyone.

I really want to change my taskbar icons to a dark black and white theme. I have all the .ico but I am running into the problem of actually switching the icons. I got to here %appdata%/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Quick Launch/User Pinned/Taskbar where all my icons are stored. I switch the icon per application, which shows up different in the folder, but not on my taskbar. What am I doing wrong?

Windows 7

What I've personally done is pin the app to the taskbar, close the app, shift + right click -> properties and under the Shortcut tab there's a Change Icon button.

The changes are applied after a restart.

A full PC restart? I could try that now that I got my SSD. Love ascending.

It works, thanks! Here is a pic of my task bar now: http://i.imgur.com/k0CJtZe.png I have two questions, is there anyway to customize the small icons on the side (not sure what they are called.) Also, only ShareX does this, but when I open it, it doesn't stack with the icon but have the original colored icon open along the task bar http://i.imgur.com/Vpe95CX.png .) All the other apps stack pages. Anyways, thanks for your help!

Icons to the side are called notification icons, I'm not entirely sure if they're customizeable (most can be hidden though), but you might be able to find a tutorial or two online if it's possible.

Not sure if I understood the second part, Your first icon (the white one) is meant to be the icon for ShareX but it's still showing up in color when you select it?

Sorry, I worded it wierd. Usually when I click on one of the short cuts, like Chrome or foobar, the open application runs right where the shortcut is. While using ShareX, it opens separately with a colored Icon. This might help more http://i.imgur.com/aYO2gf1.png

Edit: Can't find a lot on changing their Icons. It is honestly fine because it matches the black and white theme.
