So I'm using Windows 10, and I love it!

So I just downloaded the evaluation copy of WIndows 10 and I love it! I just thought I'd let anyone know who's deciding weather or not to try it that it's really good. The user interface is so good, and it's not annoying to use like WIndows 8.1 was. I was also still able to update my graphics driver despite the new OS, and I'm pretty sure other programs will work for it too. I just selected Windows 7 64 bit for the options. Overall Windows 10 is great! You have the start menu back and you can select the apps you want to appear beside it. All of your music can be played using the Windows Xbox music app which is actually quite cool to use. The whole OS appears really clean and works well despite it being an early copy.

I got to keep all my files and the installation went perfectly. If anybody has any questions feel free to ask! :)

So how's Razer keeping up with Windows 10?

Honestly it's working well, I was prompted to install Razer synapse with the Windows 10 interface when I was installing the OS.

Keylogger? Please explain.

Windows Technical Preview has a keylogger. Microsoft is keeping track of everything you type (as well as do with the OS)

I'm aware of that, but I have nothing to hid so it's fine. If I was worried about torrents showing up or whatever it's fine. If I was to get caught for torrenting Rogers would have said something years ago. Lol. I know that they are keeping track of stuff though. However I doubt they're paying much attention. They are mostly looking for error reports and other software issues that they can fix by reviewing it.

Just remember you have to format if wanting to go back to your old OS unless your running a VM or dual booting. I learned the hard way. :|

Okay thanks for the help, does that mean I lose all of my files? Honestly it doesn't really matter because it's just games and some school work. However, what if I was to buy a legitimate copy of Windows 10 when it comes out?

Be sure to get the latest build (I am not sure the website download got automatically updated or not). To do this, open PC Settings > Update and Recovery > Preview Builds.

Click on the Download button. Don't close PC Settings, or change location. Once it's done (sadly no status), you'll see a button called "Install". Click on it, and it will install. (this looks like has been improved in the newly released build).

Yea, Windows 10 is cool.

Ignore the "keylogger" claim. This is nothing really new to Windows preview builds. Microsoft uses it to make Windows better. It won't be there on the official release, like every-time. Microsoft uses it for details telemetry data collection, and do stuff like heatmaps, and stuff like that to study. It's not designed to track people, but technically, it does collect potentially sensitive data, therefor in the privacy policy they say they collect possibly sensitive data on you, and data that can possibly identify you. The problem comes down to if someone hacks the system. It's more for Microsoft to protect itself, that is why you need to be 18 years old to be part of Windows 10 technical preview.

Microsoft doesn't recommend to use it as main OS, because of this, and for the fact that it is beta, and something really bad could happen (data loss, crash, need to re-install Windows unexpectedly, and so on. It is an OPERATING SYSTEM after it, it takes these slab of circuit boards and chips and makes what you are using now. Very complicated peace of software, so it could lead to something bad. And it did, back in Windows 7 beta days, they were report of people loosing all their data. So while it is unlikely, it could happen. Everyone and Microsoft recommends frequent backups. The same recommendation for every preview builds since Microsoft started public previews since Vista.

So if I was to purchase a legitimate copy of Windows 10, I would still have to format my HDD? Or can I install the full copy by updating the evaluation copy?

On previous version of Windows previews, you needed to clean install. An upgrade was not possible. Even if it changes, I would HIGHLY recommend to do a clean install. You don't want to carry out debug code, and essentially bugs from the preview to the official release. It's best to get a problem free experience by clean install.
