Best USB drive for cheap?

orangecat

I have an old 8GB Kingston drive that has been through the washing machine a few time and it still worked but lately its been acting up and I'm pretty sure its about to die so i want a new one but I can't find a good one for cheap. i don't need tons of storage but I would like at least a 32Gb drive and it gas to be fairly fast. i'm not talking SSD speeds but i would like to be able to copy a full drive worth of stuff before I turn 50.

My current USB drive only copies and stuff at like 3 Mbps and its pretty unacceptable so i want maybe 50 but i cant find one that's good. I bought a Corsair USB once and it died in like a month so i'm staying away from Corsair.

Well what's your definition of cheap?

I got myself a SanDisk Cruser Switch that is 64GB for $50, and fairly transfers files at 5Mb/s on average.

I think he meant the talk about "RAM" instead of a flash drive - not the washing machine part. But I'm just guessing..

Be sure to look up the PNY Hook too. I have the 16GB USB2 version on my keychain. That ensures that I always have it with me without the risk of forgetting it in my pants when I wash them (yes, I'm familiar with that story).

The 32GB USB3 version is on my local eBay at around the same price as that Kingston.

I have ADATA 16GB and 32GB USB 3.0 flash drives and they have astounded me with their speed and reliability. I have put them through the wash, written hundreds of GB to them, and they still remain the fastest flash drive that I have used. I can't recommend them enough.
