Moving on from 1080p > 1440 monitor

CloneReeco

A few months ago I built my own rig from scratch including new peripherals, the only thing I didn't upgrade was my monitor.

I currently have a HP x23 LED , specs can be seen <here>

As you can see its nothing special and i've had it for around 3-4 years (I think)

Now im looking to actually use the horsepower of my asus gtx 780 and upgrade to 1440p (4k doesn't interest me, cba with scaling issues :P)

I do have a few requirements for a new monitor and have found a few possible choices.

27inch

1440p

Matte black screen + bezel/stand

Built in speakers

Height and pivot adjustable

Max spend is  £400 but may be able to get deals leading up to Christmas :)

-----------------------------------------------

Now I use my PC mainly for general browsing and gaming, I mostly play Smite, League of Legends, Battlefield series and will be picking up Far cry 4 when that gets released, taking this into account would I be better suited to a TN panel? Or IPS?

Here are a few options I have located, any opinions on any of these or any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Acer#1

Acer#2

AOC

BenQ

Asus

I'd get the asus just because I've always owned asus monitors and have never been let down, plus the slew of great reviews and happy owners doesnt hurt.

A monitor that has overshoot ghosting and pwm dimming is not ideal. It's one of the worst 1440p monitors. You should really do research before making such simplistic comments.

There's plenty of better monitors in the market right now, the pb278q is not one of them.

I have heard great things about that monitor for Color work.

Believe me when I say this; that monitor gets recommended way too much on here. You do realize that monitor has a successor, right? Asus has addressed many issues with their new revision. Most people aren't even aware of this.

Dell makes good monitors too (U2713HM), don't count them out.

BTW: please dont tell me you wanna use the speakers of your monitor for sound, at least spend a couple of bucks on a set of cheap speakers (can't possibly be worse then monitor speakers).

I'd get the Dell u2713HM, it's one of the best IPS 1440p displays. Plus, it is often on sale at Aria and so is a good £70 cheaper than the Asus. You can get a soundbar that plugs into it and sits on top of it for about a tenner, so that sorts out the need for built in speakers, though they're probably not much better.

I did know that was a successor but did not know if he could get it.

The U2713H is overpriced and the two I have listed are better.

That Acer monitor isn't sold in the UK and I'd rather not buy a panel where you don't know if you're getting a flicker free one or not at random.

Not to mention the AOC is £10 cheaper than the Dell, hardly a big saving. I'd stick to the Dell.
