Corsair RM650 problems

Quido

I just build my PC a few weeks ago and Im already thinking it was just a big waste of money. First my GPU had coil while so I got that replaced and now this.

The problem is that when I was playing Battlefield 4 the PC just randomly turned off and it came up with some PSU surge protection message saying something was wrong. I turned the PC off straight away as I thought there might be some damage to the other components but now the PC will not turn on at all. No lights come or anything.

I just spend over £1000 for this and it doesn't work. Im just so annoyed right now.

Any help?

The RM series has a lot of issues that I've heard about and personally experienced. I had an RM 1000 and the fan just wouldn't ever spin up even at it's proper loads and it ended up over heating and shutting the entire system off. The RM series also uses different capacitors than corsair usually uses and apparently those caps have a bad rep. If I were you, I'd just return it and get a different PSU.

Return it, don't even get an RMA.  The RM series, particularly the 650 more than the others is notorious for problems.  Get an EVGA SuperNOVA G2 PSU.

If you can return the unit & get your money back, DO IT! Get a seasonic 660XP2, the best built mid-tier unit on the market. It costs slightly more than rm650, but worth the money.

And here's me using the RM650 with SLI GPUs since the release of it. Without issues.

Through 2 surges and flickering lights during many brownouts. (We don't have hydroelectric in California right now because of the drought)

But yes, I may be lucky, I would suggest another PSU.

Even though I love the RM series

RM's have problems, but every unit isn't bad. You might be lucky

I just hear terrible things and mine is great. So I don't know.

Some of this info is not true and I know that.

Guys cmon there's nothing wrong with the RM series, just nothing. These kinds of issues happens to any kind of PSU including the best quality ones such as the Antec HCP/AXi series.

Luckily I have bought the components a few weeks ago. So should I return it and get the Cooler master V650? (The one Linus reviewed)

Yes. That's a comparatively better unit.
