Decisions, Decisions

StrykeGaming

So,

I have a friend who is willing to sell me his current pc for about $300

Specs are as follows

i7 860

8gb ddr3

r7 250.

I was going to replace his gpu with a 970, seeing as I will save a butt ton

and as I am a Student, It is probably a good idea.

Will the i7 stand up to the test of time or will I have to replace it.

I plan to run this setup until July, when I will replace the MoBo and get a 4790k

TIA

For only 300 dollars that is an outstanding PC.  The 860 is probably comparable to an fx8320-ish.  250 should hold you over at low-med settings until you get a better GPU.

A full priced PC at a similar value would probably not come close to the performance youd get.

Personal Rig v3: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X | Noctua NH-U14S | Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro ITX | Zotac GTX 2070 8GB | 16GB G-Skill Trident DDR4 3200MHz | EVGA Supernova 750B | Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ITX

Peripherals: Sennheiser HD518 & Classic ModMic | Corsair K65 Luxe | Zowie EC2 | ASUS VG259QM  |  ASUS VG278E | Klipsch ProMedia 2.1

Yes, you'll need to get a nice CPU cooler then, if it doesn't come with one.

Sure, but there are many many options. The h100i is not the best, or even the most economical. I need to know what case you have before I can recommend anything though, it needs to fit!  ;)
