EVGA GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0

Chelsi_Gamer

So I got 2 of these in SLI and the cooler seems to be fine. It's a tad loud past 50% so I set the fan to not hit 50% until 80*C. The hottest I got the top card was 79*C and it boosted to 1369MHz on its on (110% power). I do have 6 fans in my air 540 though (sp120/140s) the cards do have a slot between them and the bottom card has not crested 70*C yet. I am going to update the firmware with them later. But 1440p Crysis ultra 8XAA was averaging 50 fps. I keep AA down but I wanted to test them. Valley/heaven was averaging over 60 fps 1440p ultra 8xAA. I went with EVGA because despite the flaws, they are the company to be with if something goes wrong. They replaced my first 580 very quickly!

I ran the top card sli disabled and it dropped a few but the bottom card seems to be about 10*C cooler. Mind you my fan curve is 30% until 80*C

Honestly, i'd always go with a reference cooler (blower style) if you're going to SLI. They usually produce better results.

I/O strongly recommended against reference coolers especially since I decided to get the air 540. I have not manually overclocked them yet.

well reference coolers are better for sli unless you have a gpu that is one of the best ones out and great air flow

Yes if you have an Air 540 you don't want to go anywhere near blower coolers not even for SLI.

However my Gigabyte windforce OCs, the weaker cooled ones with only 2 heatpipes have lower temperatures than your EVGAs even when overclocked and overvolted to the max.

At stock speeds they don't even go over 60 degrees.

Linus is my fetish.

I keep the fans very very quiet though. At standard curve I'm sure it would be better :)

You said you set it not to hit 50% until 80c ...

The gigabyte fans at stock keep the cards under 60 degs with 40-50% fan speed, and they are completely silent.

Linus is my fetish.

I went to EVGA because they offer a flawed card. Flawed logic much.

That's because Gigabyte does not offer a flawed cooling product.
