Half life 3 propaganda?

Guest

Ever wanted to force Valve into making new Half Life?

'Cuz these guys do...

They want billboards, truck, advertisements over google...

And if Valve doesn't make Half Life they will spam copies of GabeN...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XNHevKREpg#t=68

The video has got lot's of dislikes...

And to be serious: I agree to this guy's comment:

Sigh.....While its true that Valve has been focusing on lot of different things besides Half-Life, there is no doubt whatsoever in my mind that they have been working on Half-Life 3 for quite a while now and I think they are perfectly aware that fans want that game....but they are NOT going to speed up their development, work any faster or release the game any earlier than they feel the game is ready for launch...so while I admire the passion you might have, this kind of thing is not going to be of any use.

Valve will release the game when its ready, and they most likely want to keep is as secret as possible, until its nearly finished....they most likely want to make sure that when they announce the game and its release date, that release date will hold and that they dont suffer the same kind of setback that they did with Half-Life 2 back in 2003 when it was originally supposed to be released, but was pushed back for entire year, because the game's code got leaked and pirated copies of it were sold in Russia and elsewhere. Most of all, Valve wants to make sure that HL3 could be called one of the best games of all time, just like the original and HL2 were called (and still are), so thus they wont rush with the development.

The game is going to "Suck" because its just way too over hyped for its own good.

Not to say it wont be a good game if its ever made, its just going to be something people weren't expecting.

It is funny how fans of the franchise starting to hate valve.

I don't care for the HL3 hype train, I enjoy the half life series but I am not going to "force" (or try to atleast) valve to release the game. The longer we wait the better it will be, ey?

They were close to releasing it..then Lammar decides to knock out the power forcing them to start from scratch!

Yeah, I recently bought HL2 expecting it to blow my brains out.. All I really got was some confusion, a "meh, if I want to keep playing im going to have to force myself" experience, sadness and the realization that HL franchise is just a normal FPS with some puzzle solving aspects on one of my least favorite engines, The source engine (Its a good engine, I have yet to have had a game that I enjoyed. excluding portal )

I would dare say a little more than just HL, I think Valve is a bit too high praised imo. Sure Steam is great, but it varies what features you use and the like. IF you use all those features, that great! If your like me and just want to play your games, then it really dosnt matter. Also everyone bashing other publishers for DLC and microtransactions, When valve has drowned their games in them. Im not saying that Valve is bad, I just think that Steam is kind of like a loaded burger, You pay for it, Then you take out the bits that you don't like/ don't use. If you get what I mean. Also some of their policies (Returning games, although this is understandable) among others are kind of bad.

The Half-Life games need to be put into the context in which they were released.

The mechanics introduced in the first and then the sequel, really made other FPS developers look lazy with their lack of innovation.

The gravity gun was/is just brilliant.

It's been ridiculous how some people demand new HL game. Valve has absolutely no obligation of making it. Non. And people need to realize that.

I played HL2 first and I really liked it. The fact that it didn't have any cutscenes gave you better feeling of being in the world. The engine felt really smooth to play in. The story and gameplay was paced really well. It gave you the right amount of action, story and puzzles at the right time. And even if the game is linear the game sill allows some exploration and it also rewards it with extra ammo and HP.

When I played HL one I definitely had to look at it as an achievement of the time. The engine definitely shows it's time. But overall it's very similar to the HL2 just made a lot earlier. The biggest difference in game design would be that HL had actually boss fights while HL2 mostly had just bigger fights(except the helicopter) and later reused the same enemies to make fights harder.

HL one was also very popular(made Valve lots of money) because there were lots of mods that was made for it. And those mods sold lots of copies of HL. CS would be a prime example(people who didn't like HL bought it to play CS, kind of like people did it wit ARMA2 and DayZ) but there were others as well. And Valve has hired some of the modders out there. CS, Portal, Alien Swarm, Left 4 Dead, TF are all mods where Valve hired the people making them.

Recently(about a year ago) I played Black Mesa(HL one made in source engine by fans) and it was like the old HL with the smoothness of the source engine.

Overall HL games are like the foundation of all modern shooters. It would be hard to not find HL influence in any shooter out there.

But my point with Valve games is that they should not make new HL. Valve has been innovative with all their new IP-s. HL was the foundation for FPS games. HL proved that modding can be huge for the game developers and the modders. Portal was revolutionary puzzle game. Left 4 Dead made 4 player co-op big. CS was and currently is the biggest competitive FPS. TF2 re-defined how class-based, team-based mulitplayers shooters should work(with all the classes looking very unique). TF2 defined how you can make a F2P model that is profitable for the developer and fair to the player(for a quite a while it was difficult to get into PC multiplayer FPS market unless you were COD or BF2 because TF2 was free).

I wan't Valve make something new and re-defining something about gaming again.

But this guy says they owe them HL3. What an old entitled moron.

"You are probably right that they won’t get funding – somehow the idea of paying money to a 3rd party for this seems weird. At the same time I think it is great that they are raising the profile for ‘the cause’. Sure Valve know that we want the game, but do they understand the size of the potential audience and how much pent-up demand there is?

Beyond that, do they understand that their faithful Half-Life audience are getting older and that there is a time limit associated with that? Above all, do they understand that they owe us this? Half-Life fans made Valve who they are and its time for them to acknowledge that and do right by us.

Capitocracy works best when people shout to get what they want. That’s why I set up this website and started quietly shouting back in the Summer.

The problem is Valve has no financial pressure to release HL3. They have enough money rolling in thanks to Steam.

So they can afford to keep going back to the drawing board with HL3 until they are happy with it, they will not compromise. Other devs cannot afford to operate like this for obvious reasons.

On top of this they don't have any publisher or shareholders forcing them to release regularly to maximize sales, they are a private company who do what they want.

Right now they are working on HL3, but they also seem to believe that industry problems like VR and Linux and OpenGL and living room platforms are more important than diverting all resources towards getting HL3 out before Christmas. We will have to deal with it; there are plenty of other games to play.

I haven't played any HL games untill last month when I made myself finish all of them. And its good but not fun enough for me to replay it, HOWEVER the storyline is very interesting and we got no closure with episode 2, and thats whats causing all the hype.

I for one would be pleased if they made ep3 with the same engine and graphics from HL2 and just finish the storyline and tell us more about G-man.
