My graphics card keeps running out of memory!

I just bought the new Asus Strix Direct CU II gtx 970, but when i play, the game sometimes crashes. A warning comes up saying "Close the following programs to free up more video memory: (Then it lists the game i'm playing)"

 

Am i the only one with this problem?

what game? open GPUz and monitor how much vram its using

Quite odd it's your VRAM that runs out... As said above, check it with GPU-Z or MSI Afterburner, you can also log it if you want.
