Cpu way to hot.

Prime95 is perfectly fine to use with Haswell, you just have to set voltage to manual/constant/override.

The bigger problem is your H100i.  It is a well known problem that the H100i doesn't mount properly and it often requires a washer mod to fix it.  Even then, sometimes it doesn't work, but for the most part, it helps.

So i run a i7-4770k, not overclocked.

With a H100i, though i have this problem it get's extremely hot after just 1 second of prime95.

Like i can turn on the small FFT test *BAM* 90C Instantly

Could this be caused by too little thermal paste? If so, i will try and re-apply some it, though i used the same amount on my i7-950 and that ran at max 65C :/

I can play games totally fine, no issues, i just don't like the fact i can't even run a prime for 1 second before it going nuts.

Don't use Prime95 with haswell

It still shouldn't be at 90ºc.

@nemaides try remounting the cooler and see what temps you get.

Your h100i must not be mounted properly or running correctly

my 4770k runs at like 40 degrees during a game of BF4....many people do the washer mod on the back to make the mount tighter against the CPU

tha hell... i run 40C at idle...

I'm guessing the "washer mod" = rubber washers on the back of the mounting plate?

But as djdwosk97 wrote, i will try and remount the cooler with new thermal paste before doing anything else like the washer mod.

How come? I ran Prime95 on a i7-4790 at work that one went to 55C at max.. with a stupid 80mm air cooler from coolermaster in a really closed case (HP Prodesk 490 g2 MT) it even got a GTX980 in there, when we stress tested everything it went to 60C and the gpu was at 75-80C

I actually have a gallery of the PC :P http://imgur.com/a/QjqzO

that would be because i have a HTC One (m7) from one of the first batches that got delivered at the store, it has the faulty camera issue, where it gets way to hot and that is the cause of the purple/blue glow, if i put it in the fridge for 5 minutes it's fixed for 10 seconds xD

Do you have any size specifications for those plastic washers? I can't seem to find any of the correct size at our danish online stores... (since i don't know the size i can only guess atm. xD)

If you can post in Centimeters i would be happy (screw inches)

Sounds like you have a bad mount, though you shouldn't be using Prime as it can damage post IvyB chips. Remount your cooler and be sure to re-apply thermal paste.

I have on several occasions seen similar threads that ended up being an issue with the motherboard applying a very high default voltage to Haswell i7's. If you end up ruling out the cooler, check your BIOS and see what the Vcore is set to. Since you aren't overclocked, I wouldn't expect more than 1.2 V or so.

Thanks so much guys! I applied the washer mod and some new thermal paste, it doesn't go above 65C now! :D

I can accept that using prime95 small FFTs :)

Amazing why Corsair haven't fixed the mounting yet.. it's such a simple thing to do...
