I did a similar upgrade, but a 580 to a gtx 980. It really is one hell of an upgrade. That's what happens when you skip a few gpu generations. :P

ENJOY!

My new z97 setup should arrive tomorrow. I have a slightly oc'ed 1100t so the old pci-e isn't helping.

It was enough of a whole new world going from SLI 680s to 970s, I cant image how large an upgrade it must have been for you.

Seriously you should get two.

I think a bit more context about the panel is required before recommending SLI... A single 970 would be fine for the average 1080p 60hz and a 2nd should only be considered if either of those are exceeded.... Even then SLI and crossfire will always run into problems with micro stutter, driver issues, etc down the line

If u can get away with a single gpu, for a reasonable price always go for it...SLI and crossfire have come a long way but there are still rough edges to smooth

I'm going from a gtx 430 to a 970 xP

430 is shittt

“It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”

I'm building a system right now, going from a GTX 480 so anything will be a boost and nice break from the heat and power! I can cook eggs in here on my desk when I close the door and get a gaming spree going!

Not sure if I should upgrade to 4k from 1440p or get a secondary 144hz monitor.

I've just bought a 970 too, I've sold my old gtx550 in order to buy it. So right now I'm with Intel HD graphics until my 970 come home. That is a big boost. I'm killing my hype playing age of empires 2 hahaha

Learning from Spain, don't be rude if I can't understand everything you write down to me O_o'
