When Will DDR4 RAMs Price drop?

so i am thinking about getting a new CPU and motherboard but i don't want to buy any new motherboards until DDR4 RAM goes down in price because i don't want to buy a new motherboard and then a month later DDR4 ram has dropped by a lot so when do you think the price will drop for it?

in my opinion after skylake drops wiht ddr4 compatibility since it will then be mainstream

it's price will drop when Skylake (intel's mainstream line after Broadwell) shows up with DDR4 support it'll drop pretty heftily, and even more when AMD can provide DDR4 support but that is unknown when it'll happen.

You're current systems fine, if you really wanna upgrade, get a z97 board, and a 4790k .. also Skylakes 2 years off, and AMD's solution is atleast that if not more... And DDR4 isn't exactly earth shattering performance, it's RAM RAM is RAM. or another upgrade like an SSD or more storage?

DDR4 will drop in price once mainstream stars to use it. That is, not anytime soon.

If you've got an FX-8350 now I'd say hang on for a bit, just because its not really necessary to jump to something faster just yet.

 

However, DDR4 itself is not worth waiting for. Even if you're doing something that is exceptionally memory-dependent, current DDR4 isn't much faster than DDR3 once you take the looser timings into consideration.
