Ordering my first build in the next hour, need help

MrLegendQC
Go to solution Solved by MrLegendQC,

I gave up ...

It was 1500 $ after eco-taxes and everything.....

Ok, so I'll be ordering in the next hour and I want to know if there's anything wrong or something that could be better in my build.

I live in Canada and don't worry about shipping on Newegg, I'll take the 30day free trial so there should not be shipping.

My budget is 1240$ CAN.

I would like a Black/Red Theme for the PC , simple, preference.

I do not need mouse, keyboard or screen.

I would like to have the new GTX 970 if that's possible.

No SLI or Crossfire

I had this done :

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($256.98 @ Newegg Canada)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  ($41.98 @ Newegg Canada)
Motherboard: MSI Z97-GAMING 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($178.98 @ Newegg Canada)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory  ($88.98 @ Newegg Canada)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($62.98 @ Newegg Canada)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card  ($411.98 @ Newegg Canada)
Case: NZXT Phantom 530 (Red) ATX Full Tower Case  ($149.98 @ Newegg Canada)
Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($49.99 @ Canada Computers)
Total: $1285.90
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

You might want to go with the black 530 instead. Aside from that, looks good.

Go with a better motherboard make.  Asus, Gigabyte, or even ASRock would be my choice.  Also I see you are buying stuff at Newegg Canada.  Quite often it is cheaper to buy stuff at NCIX than Newegg Canada and also if you can buy everything at Memory Express that is another way to save yourself some money.  In regards to the psu btw I would look at an Antec, SeaSonic, or Corsair.  Yes SeaSonic and Corsair much of the time are expensive with SeaSonic being the worst for that you still at times see reasonably priced psus from them but the easiest affordable but quality psus to find are from Antec.  As for your video card choice I can't recommend MSI after they had their hand slapped by Nvidia.  Since that point I haven't bothered to look at their products.  Also $411.98 for a GTX 970? Uh you can do better than that.  In regards to your storage drives I would not recommend a Seagate Barracuda 1 TB drive at $62.98.  Definitely not a good value.  As for the cooler they are charging $41.98 for the CM Hyper 212 EVO?  That is an insane high price.  Seriously it is a good cooler but you should be able to find it cheaper.  As for the cpu I have seen it cheaper by as much as $30 or even $40 in the last month or so.  Bottom line is you need to look at places other than Newegg Canada.  Also with NCIX if you have been saving up newsletter points you can get free shipping or cash towards your purchase.  Heck people on the boards might loan you points to get free shipping for your purchase.  I had this done for me time and time again.

PS: I do see that NCIX Canada right now is more expensive than Newegg Canada which is a shock and so I'd say wait on your purchase cuz this usually isn't the case.

changed the ram and cooler, made it less expensive. Also if you don't want SLI, why not go with an mITX build? Nice and neat!

To be honest, you'll get tired of the Red case really quick. There's a few people on this forum that got the Red 530 and regret it.

Forget the red color the OP has to be able to do much better for value on a case than paying $149 or whatever especially since the OP jumped onto the black color now for the case.  I mean if you are getting a color that is different than the usual norm paying more is fine but not for black.  Heck I got an Antec 1100 for $69 new so there has to be some excellent buy out there right now on cases.  Anyone got one to recommend right away?  I will take a look and see but I have none to recommend right off the top of my head.

OP also remember you have to look at this case forever.  Well kind of.  I mean for the time I spent picking out computer cases really I hardly look at them and so with that said go with the color you want to go with.  I thought the red case was awesome but hey I am a New Jersey Devils fan.

$109 for this? I don't care if it is Gold Certified OP just don't do it.  If you spend that kind of money look at something that will give you some wiggle room in the future if you want to add more devices.

If you can get NCIX or whoever to price match it then this is a good option.  Price match everything at NCIX and get free shipping with points. Post on their message boards that you are looking to build for the first time and present what you have so far after all of our recommendations and say you could use some help with the shipping though and maybe people will loan you points.

... the one I posted is the same thing rebranded and is $20 less.

Don't know if that discount is enough though.

I was going to recommend that psu myself but then saw horrid reviews on it.

Just looked at it on Newegg, majority of reviews are positive.
