First High-End Mini-ITX Graphics Card (Gigabyte GTX 970)

Well, it was only a matter of time before we saw something like this hit the market. We've already seen mini-ITX version of the GTX 760 and R9-285 - which both offer more than exceptional performance within the 6.7 inch footprint of a mini-ITX motherboard. With the latest GM204 chips from Nvidia with significantly lower TDP and operating temperatures, it's no surprise to see that Gigabyte has just introduced a new small-form-factor GTX 970. 

 

With advancing PC technology, things are getting smaller and more efficient with each generation. I doubt this card will be a crazy overclocker, but the fact that you can get this much performance in such a small size is nothing short of awesome. :D

What do you guys think? Would you buy a card like this to build a tiny killer gaming rig in a shoe-box sized PC, or do you prefer the bigger cards with more overclocking potential?

well that's pretty cool I wonder if the cooling is good?

 

Based on what I know about the Windforce X3, this probably could cool it well with a conservative OC. Something around 1300mhz would probably be pushing it but perhaps it'll be alright at higher frequencies. Edit: I'm more worried about the VRAM, honestly.

 

 

Not bad at all, especially for a 12cm wide card. The full-size WFX3 is overkill for even a heavily clocked 980, capable of cooling a max of 600W. Be happy that they're using their new fans and an interesting shroud for this small card.

 

 

 

 

Apparently this is the smallest mITX card ever produced. Misread some information - nevermind.

I think AMD is jealous they cant cool a 290x with a tiny cooler like that.

I'm glad someone is doing this but I wish it was a blower cooler. Kinda defeats the purpose, making a mini-itx optimized card and then having all the hot air inside a already-known-for-having-bad-airflow mini-itx case.
