It only kicks in during heavy load.. 3.5ghz stock is enough.. let alone 4Ghz.. or 4.4

You have an engineering sample CPU... (ES) I'd RMA that sucker.

So let me get this clear, you're wondering why your CPU isn't displaying the full 4000MHz (4GHz) when turbo boost isn't enabled and 4400MHz (4.4GHz) when turbo boost is enabled, is that correct?

ON A 7 MONTH BREAK FROM THESE LTT FORUMS. WILL BE BACK ON NOVEMBER 5th.

In windows cpuz is displaying my cpu with 3999mhz. On review sites of the same cpu ,cpuz displaying is 4400mhz.  Why my cpu then is clocket at 3999mhz but not 4400mz? I dont have turbo enabled?

This is my cpu clocks on idle.

They should be on idle 799mhz like here , right?

So why i have 3999mhz not 799mhz? Is this something bad with cpu?

if you wanne have the full 4.4GHz then you should disable all powersaving feutures, and intel speed step.

And enable the turbo.

First reset your CMOS. The idle clocks and full turbo are default settings. Second go to windows power management and select performance mode. Test for turbo again. That should tell if its working or not.

Intel Turbo is on a per core basis. Depending on how many cores are being used, that is the turbo speed.

4.4 is like 1-2 cores. All cores I think 4.2 is top. 3 is prob 4.3?

To put it simply the review sites are testing 1-2 core application or benchmarks.

Also unless the CPU actually needs to be going all out, it won't. There are many games my 4770k sits damn near idle in and doesn't max out in. This isn't a problem.  Run something like cinebench r 15. On the multicore test you should see it spiking to 4.2. On single core, 4.4.

You can also lock the core ratio between cores in the BIOS, which anyone who is OCing and benching would have likely done (and turned off Turbo).
