Good HTML Editors? < $10 USD

ItsMonkey

Hey there! So I was wondering if any of you knew about good text editors for HTML. I'm not willing to spend over $10 usd as I am no professional, but I do want to take this serioisly. Coding with notepad++ just seems to annoy me. I've already tried Sublime and I really like it, but if there is a better one out there, please let me know, thanks!

In terms of free ones, that's about it. And to be honest, the paid ones are not any better. I use dreamweaver because it autocloses tags which saves time and because it has a solid ftp system.

I have a feeling that you don't like notepad for the same reason most people don't font is ugly and not very sexy or there's not enough functionality. Notepad++ has a tonne of plugins, and you can change the font and the overall look in Settings>Style configurator

Here's a random font I picked for the purposes of showing you this

If it helps, my favourite font to use in notepad++ is Meriyo UI, but it doesn't have character support for a lot of characters that you will come across in web development, so I use Gadugi

I am good at computer

Are you using mac or pc?

Can't help you with pc, but on mac, try Coda 2.

It s my personal favorite! And if I m not wrong its around 10 or 20 bucks! Totally worth it!

The reason I would rather use an editor than notepad is for the auto-closing brackets and such. I don't mind the font at all. Also, am I able to get Coda on PC or not? I've heard that one is good.

Notepad++ is a great tool, it's not the end-all be-all, but it's very powerful. As @Hazy125 said, it has a metric ton of plugins. give some of those a look (same as him, the only reason I can find that you'd dislike it is the UI (personally, I use a DOS-style layout with high contrast, makes editing a breeze and much less straining for long periods)).

Having learned webpage programming/design for a graphic design degree (that I ended up switching to CIS (and as such, a sister school)) I learned the intricacies of Dreamweaver at my first school. Doing it the second time around, however, we used Notepad++, and, coming from something designed specifically to deal with websites and their development/management, I was pleasantly surprised. the only feature I wish it had -  live view. If it had that, i'd be a complete convert.

Amaya is another one that's fairly popular. Not my cup of tea, but it is very powerful.

There's also browser plugins that allow for basic HTML editing, however I have zero experience with any of them, and as such, can not endorse, recommend, or approve of any of them.

Edit: for auto closing brackets in Notepad++, give this a look.

I have used brackets for lots of projects. It's being updated constantly and it's open-source maintained by adobe and I believe google also contributed and is free :)

It also has lots of neat features such as hover previews for colors and images, a live preview option, and code autocomplete.

I don't see a reason to pay for an HTML editing program, Notepad++ is good enough.

Try Adobe Edge Code, it's free and I believe it's in beta but it has some great features, the winner for me is live preview as I develop, working on 2 monitors, one for code the other to preview what im building. So yeah give it a shot, what ya got to lose:

I personally love Sublime. I guess I haven't tried many others due to the fact Sublime works great for my needs.

Visual Studios is a super glorified HTML editor... lol

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

I just use google chrome if I need to edit HTML. You can see what your changes look like immediately, using the page inspector.

Firebug for Firefox is good too (pretty much the same as the chrome inspector).

Notepad++ (pc) or sublime text (mac) is decent if you're a beginner. Otherwise webstorm is pretty good if you're a student or if you're willing to pay for it.
