Now I'm not sure whether or not to keep the CX430M or go for the CX500M.. :/

you already own the CX430M? this PSU is good enough to run this machine with the current GPU mentionned (GTX 750ti or R9 260X) or any mid-range graphics cards...you're fine.

If in the future you upgrade to an high-end more demanding GPU then you might consider a beefier PSU...until then you're good to go.

I meant as in "keep it in the list".

So it's gonna be enough for a i5-4440+260x? that's good. I can save some moneys there.

(if it turns out to not be enough, i got my pitchfork ready  :D)

I see that you have selected a Caviar Black.  I would step down to a less expensive HDD if you have the option.  Seagate Barracuda or Western Digital Caviar Blue are solid options.

430W is enough for the system you have planned.  If in the future, you want to get a better GPU, then you would need a higher wattage PSU.  So maybe take the money saved on a lower end HDD and put it into a 500-600W PSU.  Make sure it is a Bronze+ Certified PSU.

haaaa no in that situation if you don't already own the PSU i'd highly suggest that you pick up a 500W or 550W so that you can make some upgrades to the machine down the road...you will end up saving time and money cause you'll not have to replace the PSU when you realise that you need a stronger GPU.

EDIT: as faceman stated instead save on the harddrive get a caviar blue you won't notice the difference those are all equaly slow anyway.

I don't see a use for that site because I'm not from the US, and Croatia has it's own site that pools prices from a lot of vendors, "nabava.net".

I've put in a Caviar Blue, that allows me to break even if i go for a 500W PSU.

As for PSUs, what are the best manufacturers? Corsair seems like the best choice for now.

corsair CX are cheap but ''okay to use'' PSU...nothing spectacular but passable...good ones are mostly branded by antec, evga, XFX and seasonic...the corsair RM series or higher are good quality...CX is ok as mentionned and most likely the ones you can afford....a CX500 would be great.

Yeah, for some reason, the CX600M is only 2$ more expensive than the CX500M. I think imma go for the 600W one.

God bless pooling prices from dozens of webshops.

Get the CX600M.  Very good PSU for the price, I used to have one myself.

Got a link to a shop? CX600m isn't worth its price, sleeve bearing fans shouldn't be in a PSU especially if theyre mounted horizontally which wears the bearing faster out.

You could have said that in mandarin for how much understood it.

From looking at the selection on that website, the CX600M is your best option without having more money to spend.

XFX 550W is better than the CX's.

It's not modular I see. I mean, it's not a dealbreaker but someone kinda sold me on modular PSUs a few weeks back.

Better to have a high quality non-modular PSU than a so/so quality modular PSU.

I'm not sure if the pricing on that site is 100% correct, but if it is, then the

RM650 looks like a good option.

Yeah, it tends to mislabel.

If you follow the store link, it's s VS650

The VS650 is a good PSU also, better than CX.

The XFX PSUs are very good and reliable.  Even if it is not modular, it is going to be a PSU that you can have confidence in.

XFX

I didn't realize the VS wasn't bronze certified.  Was thinking of Cooler Master's VS series.

Definitely get the XFX 550 Pro.  Its a very high quality PSU, that comes with a 5 year warranty.  You will be able to upgrade your GPU in the future without having to worry about PSU.

First shop mainly sells garbage PSU's except the Corsair ones. 2nd shop has better offerings. Decent PSU's I found;

http://www.protis.hr/products/details/napajanje-650w-xfx-core-edition-80-easyrail-technology/40260

http://www.protis.hr/products/details/napajanje-620w-antec-hcg620-ec-atx-v23-135mm-vent/66284

http://www.protis.hr/products/details/napajanje-650w-antec-true-power-classic-tp650c-atx-120mm-vent/82194

If you want a fully modular, semi-passive mode (fan doesnt spin at low loads) and a fan with a fluid dynamic bearing (which last 300K hours rather than 50K like traditional sleeve bearings and they don't become louder over time);

http://www.protis.hr/products/details/xfx-550w-power-supply-black-edition-full-modular-p1550bbefx/80171

Nano has this PSU and he's quite happy with it.

All of them are actually Seasonic rebrands which is one of the best PSU manufacturers atm. My choice would be the XFX XTR 550W fully modular one. Money is well spent imo, a PSU isn't something you should cheap out if you can use it for 10 years. Japanese caps live much longer than whatever you have, CX/CS psu's don't use jap caps on the secondary so don't expect a long lifespan from them. It's just 100kn more than a CX/CS PSU so I'd rather get the xfx xtr 550W imo.

It's actually a bit more than a 100kn difference between the XFX XTR 550 and the XFX Core 550 i have on the list now.

XTR: 745kn

Core: 465kn

It's a significant difference, percentage-wise, but a difference i can suffer through.

Doesn't the XFX Core series use jap caps and all those other things you mention? It's the same manufacturer after all.

those xfx psu's are better than the corsair for sure...i do use the XFX XTR and i love it the fan rarely kicks in making it a perfectly silent PSU most of the time...i don't know if the core 550 is the same inside...@Faa could provide more infos on that perhaps.

Get the XFX Core.  It is a very good PSU, and the other one isn't worth the increase in price, especially when that money would be much better spent on a higher end GPU.

If you're willing to spend more money, get the XFX Core, and upgrade to an R9 270(X) or GTX 760.

Yeah all caps are japanese on the xfx 550w core you're talking about. The difference between the XFX 550W core & XFX XTR 550W; Isn't (fully) modular at all, doesn't have that semi-passive fan mode, isn't gold but like that matters bronze is plenty. But it uses a double ball bearing fan which is still fantastic in terms of lifespan and way better than sleeve bearings.
