SSD no longer appears in boot priority menu

Go to solution Solved by Ian_Balisy,

I just flashed the same version of BIOS I already had and that seems to have fixed it. Both SSDs are now visible in BIOS boot priority menu. Not sure why this worked, but I guess the BIOS may have just needed to be reset in order to see the drives in the new order.

Hey all,

I've just switched up a few things in my new build and after changing cables and SATA ports, my Samsung 840 EVO no longer appears in the ASUS UEFI BIOS boot options. My old Crucial SSD with Ubuntu installed on it does. Without the Crucial SSD connected, the computer will boot from the 840 EVO and I can choose it from the boot menu, but it doesn't show up in the boot priority options. Anyone know what's going on here?

BIOS is up to date, both SSDs work perfectly fine, all SATA ports work... can't quite put my finger on it.

Its probably that you connected your SSD to a SATA port controlled by 3rd party drivers.

You need to enable these drivers in the BIOS for the SSD to be detected, or you could try switching the port your SSD is pugged into.

The Samsung SSD is plugged into SATA 0 on the board. The Crucial SSD will show up plugged into the same port (or any SATA port for that matter).
