Professional Tog needs your help!

Luhan

1. Budget & Location
My budget is about $ 800 USD. I'm in the states.
2. Aim
My goal for this build to get some stuff done on Light Room, Photoshop done. I'll be doing some basic gaming, using it for school work, as well as basic web browsing.
3. Monitors
Probably one monitor that's 1080 resolution or higher.

4. Peripherals
I need the OS included in price.

5. Why are you upgrading?
Well I was gonna go for the mac mini, but the new versions are soldered. And other macs are light weight expensive. But hackintosh IS NOT AN OPTION. So thanks guys.

What about Linux?

Yep, he could save over a 100 bucks and get better hardware, however he needs photoshop

I don't think Lightroom and PS run under Linux, and WHINE in my experience is a bugger to get working, and hogs CPU power. For a Photographer, I think it would be better just to run Windows.

You're right, however it's called WINE, not WHINE :P

Little over $800.

I didn't include a GPU as the intel HD 4600 integrated graphics is enough for light gaming, though you may want to throw in a gpu some time in the future as it can help with photoshop and such.

Edit: No GPU (you can add that later) because of the low budget and the monitor was 1/4 of your budget, took me a lot to make this

Would R9 graphics be cheaper?

I think the r7 265 is the same price as the 750 ti ($150) and is slightly better in performance.

Heard the pentium G3258 can be pretty well. You think it can handle photoshop?

Yes, though it will not perform as well as the i5 4690K will.
