Upgrading to an SSD is one of the most effective, cheapest and versatile ways to upgrade your PC. If you're using a HDD, I suggest getting an SSD for performance and reliability.

Personally I reccomend the MX100 256GB from Crucial.

I'd also try defragmenting the HDD and running CrystalDiskInfo on it to check if it's still healthy.

Sata 2 will bottleneck it, but it'll still be worlds faster than a HDD.

In the future, though, CPU upgrade might be worth it - check out the new Athlon X4 860k for a decent and cost-effective upgrade. (the Athlon 64 x2 6000+ is really old)

Hello,

i would like to know if my friends pc would speed up faster if he get ssd.

he have kinda old pc and it laggs almost everywhere, for example chrome isn't opening fast,it takes about 10sec to respond.

i know that sdd will not work at 100% cause its sata 2 port but its still faster than hdd.

he have a gigabyte motherboard released date 2007 if im right
amd altholx2 6000 or something like this cpu
ddr2 ram 8GB
for gpu asus geforce 210
i dont have any info about his hdd but it must be old too.

To make it better he should change mobo+cpu+ddr3 or he can avoid it? any suggestion?

thank you for your time.

Oh if he's planning to upgrade the FM2+ socket should give him a pretty decent performance boost.

:) glad I could help! Remember to mark solved

This is what it amounts to. I've upgraded to a SSD on my Laptop which only has SATA2 and the difference in boot time and how fast programs load is probably bigger than with a new system.

Moral of the story: going from 5400RPM HDD to SSD on a SATA 2 port made me liek my laptop again.
