Have a Nexus 5 running the Lollipop beta? You can get significantly better pictures out of your camera

The L Camera is an experimental camera app that is (unfortunately) only available on the Nexus 5 and only if it is running the Android 5.0 Lollipop beta. What L Camera does is takes photos in the RAW image file of DNG. (There's information on the GitHub page on how to open DNG files.) 

 

The results are outstanding. Check out these samples.

 

 

 

First, here’s the JPEG image taken by the Nexus 5 on auto exposure with PkmX’s app:

 

 

 

Here’s the JPEG image taken by the Nexus 5 on a tripod at ISO 100 and ½ second exposure time:

 

 

 

And here’s the image obtained by editing with RawTherapee the raw DNG file taken with PkmX’s camera app:

 

 

 

For comparison, here’s the image you’d normally be able to get using the Google Camera:

 

And yes, this does only work with a Nexus 5 running the Lollipop beta, because i tried to install it on my rooted LG G2 (running 4.4.4 KikKat) and it wouldn't even install.
