For all you parents out there, you know how annoying it is when your toddler pushes the reset switch while you're in the middle of something!  If only we could cut off access to the front panel...

 

The ideal child-resistant case would have a front cover that protects the optical drive, power and reset buttons, USB and audio jacks etc.   It also needs to be of high quality, good cooling, etc etc.

 

Am I the only person with this problem?

disconnect the reset button, or place the case out of reach if that is possible? :P

Some cases have a cover over the reset button but that's about it. You'd probably need to do some ghetto modding to child proof everything but you could just disconnect the reset switch.

I have my reset switch disconnected, if i ever have to hard restart my pc, I just hold in the power button / turn the power supply switch off

The CM Storm Trooper 2 has a cover over the reset/power/front I/O.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Get something HUGE and put it on a desk.

I've done the same for some servers.

 

Its essentially the same, reset kills power and restarts. Hard power off just kills power, generally the same. You will loose progress and whatnot of course :)

AFAIK, it just bad for anything happening software-wise, but the reset switch I think, just does the same thing :/

The C70 has a cover over the reset switch. I think we need an update for that case. It looks great, but it's features are old.

It can screw data up (but so can a hard reset). And I've found that my motherboards (all of which are older) get really pissy when you do that (like they take FOREVER to POST). And I had an old power supply that sent out a surge when that happened, so I killed an old Netgear NIC.

why not just adjust the power settings on the computer so when you press the power button it makes the computer sleep.  And just disconnect the rest button.

Thats a good idea, I had not thought of it!  cheap solution until the child is older!  I like it.

Either disconnect the reset button or if you really want a reset button buy a replacement reset switch for 3$ and  move it to back of case...

The HAF X also has a slider that covers the power and reset buttons, but my cats have already figured out how to move that as well (not kidding).
